September 19,2017: People are spending exorbitant sums of money on weddings in Kashmir these days. As a result those girls whose parents can't afford this kind of expenditure, are having a tough time finding a groom and some even committ suicide because of dowry....harassment. Maulvies, Imams and other religious people should proactively denounce and discourage the practice as it is biddat and is un-islamic. The civil society should also take up the matter and we, at the Himalayan Welfare Organization, will go from door to door urging people to take a stand against it. We need everybody's suppprt in this and hope that all of you will cooperate inshallah in this noble cause.
